There is no greater cause than providing humanitarian and disaster relief to those in need. Creating better schools, preserving nature, deeming significant buildings historic, saving the whales are all worthy causes, but none compare to providing safe shelter, food, water, and medicine to those desperate and without.

The Red Cross does a tremendous job in addressing these needs, and is an essential and worldwide resource. From their site:

After an initial conception and build of the platform for KeMeK.ORG, or KeMeK.Philanthropy, which took place in March of this year, a re-imagining and then rebuild from scratch followed, and for all intents and purposes, can hereby be marked complete.

The site is live and to the public, and open for registration to all.

The site will serve as a communication forum, shared calendar, news portal, and social network for Pioneers from around the world committed to remaining hopeful and positive about the world and the human condition, and who dedicate some portion of their lives and resources to charity, philanthropy, and aid.

The site is of course in its absolute infancy, and additional design, content, and features are forthcoming.

However, the eseentials of the platform are in place now, and the site accepts registrations and offers authenticated Pioneers the ability to post their own content as well as comment upon existing content.
